About Root Board Game
Play the digital adaptation of the beloved tabletop board game. Root is a game of adventure and war where 2 to 4 players battle for control of a vast wilderness.
The nefarious Marquise de Cat has seized the great woodland, intent on harvesting its riches. Under her rule, the many creatures of the forest have banded together. This Alliance will seek to strengthen its resources and subvert the rule of Cats. In this effort, the Alliance may enlist the help of the wandering Vagabonds who are able to move through the more dangerous woodland paths. Though some may sympathize with the Alliance’s hopes and dreams, these wanderers are old enough to remember the great birds of prey who once controlled the woods.
Meanwhile, at the edge of the region, the proud, squabbling Eyrie have found a new commander who they hope will lead their faction to resume their ancient birthright.
The stage is set for a contest that will decide the fate of the great woodland. It is up to the players to decide which group will ultimately take root.

A functional port of a great board game. This is exactly like the PC version, so the UI can be too small and sluggish. Like with the PC version, any art taken from the actual game is fantastic, but any art they had to make themselves is terribly phoned-in (such as the scoundrel's scorched earth, which literally looks like someone drew an anus on the board). Also good to note that any DLC you've purchase on PC stays with your account and can be played here.

A buggy mess when it comes to loading local saves. When loading a saved pass and play (local multilayer) game, game breaking errors like the cat faction having their turn over and over forever occur, and sometimes, the game just decides to turn players into NPCs, having the A.I. play for them instead. A great game in and of itself, but too buggy to recommend.

Love the game and this is a faithful adaptation to the board game. However, after the last update ,the game has been messing up. A huge part of the multiplayer is the asynchronous aspect but now I don't get notifications for my turn. The response I got was to update to Android 13, which come on now, Android 11 ain't even that old. Also, the DLCs are stupid expensive for a mobile game

Insane micro transactions for a paid game. Be ready to part with over 50 USD to actually unlock everything! The game falls a bit short of what you would expect for a full mobile port. The tutorials are good but fall far short of their potential. Alot of learning this game is just trying things and seeing what happens which can be a frustrating experience especially because you cannot save mid-game (absurd) and you can only undo one turn.

This adaptation of the board game is very well executed. Art and animation are enthralling without being so much that the game would loose focus on what was important. The mechanics and navigation are quickly intuitive. For the most part, the automatic zooming in of the screen is exactly where you would want to be looking. When it is not, there is nothing locked in such a way that you can't reposition where the focus is placed. Very good choices here. Pass and play is also excellent
